The grimoires are grammars of magic, or workbooks of magical information and techniques. The books or manuscripts commonly known as grimoires were generally written in Europe from the thirteenth to eighteenth century. The grimoires drew together magical practices and ideas from the ancient world, the Qabalah and other sources and presented them in a manner which hugely influenced the magical revival of the nineteenth century and the development of Ceremonial Magic.
